MP Depot Fredericktown MO
Title:  MP Depot Fredericktown MO
Description:  The nicely maintained MP depot at Fredericktown MO; which was located at MP104.4 on the Belmont branch. The size of the station belies the point that passenger service was never really relevent here; even by WWII there was only a daily mixed on the line between Bismarck and Charleston; by 1955 the route was listed as 'freight only'. As of 1973 the town was located on the Charleston Subdivision of the Arkansas Division; the tracks were abandoned in 1974.

Paired GP10s on the MRIX
Title:  Paired GP10s on the MRIX
Description:  Motive Rail Inc must have one of the largest (if not the largest) group of operating Paducah Geeps left in the country with at least 12 in possession along with about five GP7/9s as well. "Home" is at SEMO Port along with several outlying locations in the midwest. GP10s 8317 and 8328 are shown here tied down near the BNSF interchange in Cape. Although MRIX paints its units in red and blue colors, 8317 seems to be the oddball of the litter, having a blue long hood and red cab. The trailing unit, 8329, is in what could be called the closest thing to a standard scheme with blue cab, short hood, frame and bottom part of the long hood..

Frame number, MRIX 8317
Title:  Frame number, MRIX 8317
Description:  Left-rear frame stamp on MRIX 8317; it appears as if EMD had some issues with the third digit. This re-confirms the frame's origin as a Reading GP7. Finding units with frame numbers this crisp is getting harder as they tend to be covered by things like reflective tape as of late.

Title:  Holcim Switcher Awaiting its Fate
Description:  The Holcim Company closed its Clarksville MO plant (at a siding cflled Dundee for years by the railroad, based on the original cement company's name-even if the town with that place name is south of the Missouri River in Franklin County), The plant had at least three switchers; an SW1, GNAX1, is now in Colorado and a centercab GE seems to be missing. The newer EMD switcher still sits in the plant awaiting>its fate with no number or reporting marks visible. It's supposed to be the'former Waterloo RR no2, an SW900 buillt in 1957 that reportedly arrived here in 1983. It's receiqed a new prime mover along the way- presumably a Cummins of some variety.
