Description:  Peoria & Eastern 5624 sits at the Penn Central Hillsboro IL terminal on a gray November day in 1974. NYC subsidiary P&E had 15 GP7s, all numbered within its parent's system and delivered in the NYC "Lightning Stripe" scheme. By the mid-1970s most were in overall black with a P&E herald on the cab and PC logos on the ends. Several, including 5624 here, received Penn Central markings on the hood as well.

Description:  In 1973 an American company imported a Romanian diesel hydraulic to demonstrate for possible sales in the US. Named the "Quarter Horse", the unit wandered around the US and worked on the Washington Terminal for a piece before leaving for points unknown. It's shown here in the Illinois Terminal yard in Madison IL. To say it looked out of place would be quite an understatement.
