Came across this small collection on eBay. The freight cars are of particular note.... I bet the caboose ride was interesting. Sure is a mess, they must have been going right along, much faster than today's PanAm traffic thru here. /DL |

As Tim points out MEC 802 started life as PTT #1082. It was in built in June 1956 and moved over to MEC the following November. MEC Class DRS-1F. /DL |

MEC 686 |
Description: |
A tip of the hat to Dick Glueck who provided this follow up photo and info: "I was 16 when I took this picture. This is Waterville Shops, Waterville, Maine, 1966. The F3 had just been stripped and burned out prior to cutting it up. I used to see these all the time at the crossing by my brother's apartmenr, but never took a picture, since 'a Diesel is a Diesel'." |

This series of photos are taken from Railroad Ave walking towards the Oak Street crossing. PAR indexed all the old MEC mile posts to Mattawamkeag a few years ago. The post is to the right across the tracks in this frame. The camera is about 200 yards west of Oak Street looking eastbound towards Waterville. /DL |

Description: |
Oak Street is behind the camera. The passenger station was to the right. The crossing in the distance is for Pleasant St.. The track to the right is the main line to Waterville. The near track is the Madison Branch which diverges from the Main just 'round the bend. /DL |
