They are pulling an eastbound passenger train around the Horseshoe Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia. Note the illustration of an inclined plane and a two-sectioned boat on the Allegheny Portage Railroad (1834-1854). |
