PRR 3710, I-1S, 1939
Title:  PRR 3710, I-1S, 1939
Description:  Mann. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Duquesne, Pennsylvania, on 30 April 1939. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3710 and #6769. Both locomotives are products of the PRR's Juniata Shops. #3710 is an I-1S (2-10-0) "Decapod" built in May of 1919 and retired in August of 1956, while #6769 is an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in September of 1930 and retired in August of 1955. This photo was taken quite soon after the accident, witness the steam from rain falling on the still-hot firebox! Many thanks to Mr. Bruce Briggs for providing the details and location of this incident. (Gift from Brad Mann.)
