A proud B&O crew pose for a photo at the Sandusky depot on July 4th, 1920. A note on the back from the photographer Glenn H. Davis, states "B&O #1333 4-6-0 class B-17 on train #4 Sandusky, Ohio, July 4, 1920 My dad is on the pilot (with folded arms)." Originally built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in March of 1901 as a Vauclain compound ten wheeler, the B&O Shops in 1904-05 converted it to a simple ten wheeler and reclassified as B-17a. The loco was retired in 1923. Original specs - class G-17, 78" drivers with 15x28 &25x28" cylinders. |
