New Portage. Here is an original photo by Bruce D. Fales. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3700, an HC-1S (2-8-8-0) "Articulated" built in Juniata during June of 1919 and retired in August of 1929 after just a decade of service. In this context, the Flagman may have just uncoupled #3700 from the train after a successful "pusher" run up the New Portage Branch line. Note the antique truck on the N-5 cabin car. The Flagman's name, the date, and the location are not recorded. (#8,800)

PRR 4-4-4-4 #5542 - Pennsylvania RR
Description:
J.R. Quinn caught this massive duplex drive PRR 4-4-4-4 #5542 built by Baldwin in July of 1946. Most of these T-1 duplex drives were retired by 1949. Sadly, this one in particular was sold for scrap in 1956. Specs - serial #72785, T-1 class, 80" drivers, impressive 300 psi boiler pressure, 19.5x26" cylinders, engine weight of 502,200 lb, tractive effort of 64,653 lb. J.R. Quinn photo No location or date was given. Thanks to Ben Kranefield and the PRRTHS group (see comment below), the location is the HUNT tower near Huntington, PA. On the right is PRR engine #5544, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during 1946 and retired in January of 1956. On the left are PRR engines #5880 and another E-7 whose number is not recorded. Both are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5880 was built in April of 1949 and renumbered "4204" in 1966.
