Description: |
Wearing a snowplow on the front, this 1905 Alco-Schenectady built Consolidation-type loco was B&M class K-7. It had 61" drivers and generated a respectable boiler pressure of 200 psi to deliver to its 20"x30" cylinders. The engine weight was 170,000 lb and it could produce a tractive effort of 33,443 lb. No photogrpaher listed and the month and day in 1937 are approximations. |

This Alco built 2-8-0 Consolidation was built circa 1916 as one of the large K-8 class locos for the Boston & Maine. Some disagreement in sources as to whether this is a Brooks or Schenectady product. Nevertheless, it served the Boston & Maine until it was scrapped in 1953. Specs - class K-8a, superheated, 61" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine weight of 211,000 lb, tractive effort of 43,342 lb. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo. |
