CB&Q XM-33B 24401
Title:  CB&Q XM-33B 24401
Description:  Bleeding off the air on Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Class XM-33B 24001 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in June 1980, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This was the second of 350 class XM-33B 50 foot single 8 foot door boxcars turned out by the CB&Q shops in Havelock, Nebraska in 1956. They were in the 24000-24349 number series, becoming BN 215950-216300. Delivered in Mineral Red paint with the slogan, "Way of the Zephyrs" on this side to the right of the door, and "Everywhere West" on the opposite side, this car has apparently been shopped sometime between 1968 and 1970, the roofwalk was removed, and it was painted in the pre-merger green paint scheme. The intention was to add the word NORTHERN below the BURLINGTON, but the type face was changed to a less-compact style by the time the merger was consumated. It is listed in the January 1969 Official Railway Equipment Register (ORER) as class XL, AAR A220, a note indicates that cars 24000-24009 are equipped with moveable bulkheads. In the October 1971 ORER it is shown as class XM, AAR 230.
