Description:
Burlington Northern Railroad SD9s 6206 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in September 1980, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in October 1957 (c/n 23638) on EMD Order 5549, this was the last SD9 delivered to the CB&Q. It became BN 6206 sometime after the March 2, 1970 merger, and was retired in August 1986. The lower case "s" in the model designation indicates that this SD9 was equipped with a Single control stand. The SD9's in the 440-459 number series (BN #'s 6187-6206) were the only SD9's on the CB&Q so equipped, all others had dual control stands.
