| In January of 1998, Amtrak was authorized by BNSF to run at speeds up to 90 mph&with trains that included 60 foot express boxcars on them. For a time, Amtrak ran express only trains on the Marceline Sub before getting out of the express business since the freight railroads complained it was infringing on their business.
