UP SD45 3607 was one of the locomotives equipped with RCS, thus the 'ping pong' type ground plane mounted on top of the cab. Thanks for sharing.

These locomotives were also equipped with Union Switch & Signal (US&S) type 'EL' cab signals. The RCS ground plane antenna transmit and receive antennae were fed by coaxial cables coming from the cab.

The even-numbered 3600-series SD45s were equipped with RCS (UP 3600-3636), while the odd-numbered SD45s were not equipped. The 3600-series SD45s were later renumbered UP 1-50 in late 1978 through early 1979.
