Here's a loco with a different history. Built by GE in December of 1974, it was originally one of the Autotrain power units, AUCX 4015. It was operated by Auto-Train Corporation, a privately owned railroad carrier founded by Eugene K. Garfield. Begun in 1971, it lasted until 1981 when the Auto-Train Corporation filed bankruptcy. It landed on the Conrail roster as CR 2973. The final dispotion of this loco after the Conrail breakup is unknown. No photographer was listed for this photo. |
