| 1875 the French line Pontarlier–Vallorbe with a new tunnel Col de Jougne opened, so a new mainline between the city of Paris and Milan through the Simplonlinie was possible for the first time. Vallorbe became a famous border station between France and Switzerland, with a timely and generous platform building to acclaim the travelers. Today, empty and forgotten, a few local trains and a pair of TGV Lausanne-Paris stops here. |
