The Dakokta Rail was formed in 1985 using the Great Northern line from Wazata MN to Hutchinson on Lake Minnetonka. James J. Hill, President of the GN commissioned the new line in 1885. It operated both freight and a dinner train. BNSF dropped off cars in Wazata MN. Dakota Rail operated up to 2001. It had an ABA set of freight units in blue and orange. I remember seeing a SW9 in Spring Park in CB&Q type colors. |
