Leighton: Thanks to my good friend Paul Strubeck, he suggested I post my inquiry in Railway Preservation News, which I did. Not two hours later, I received a reply from "Howard P.", and his information led me to learn that this car is ex-Central Vermont #382, and it's on its way to Granby, CO to the Moffat Road Railroad Museum. From http://www.moffatroadrailroadmuseum.org/projectcar.html: "This car was one of several similarly designed cars for use in a single first class train of the period. The car, formerly No. 382, is the sole survivor of the series, having outlasted its sisters through demotion to work train service and use as a rider car with the wreck train. The car was built in 1905 by the American Car & Foundry Company.
