CB&Q GM-4C 83107 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in November 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This car was built by CB&Q's Havelock (Nebraska) shops in 1958, one of 590 cars in the 82550-83139 number series, eventually becoming BN 560000-560349 series. However, in 1959, the Q took 25 of the 1958-built GM-4A's and rebuilt them by raising the sides 14 inches (note rivet line above the word BURLINGTON) and added removable roofs, bulkheads, and wood floors. The rebuilt cars kept their original numbers but were reclassed GM-4C and had an increased capacity of 2259 cubic feet. This car is listed in the January 1969 Official Railway Equipment Register (ORER) under Note R which reads: Individual numbers of cars in series 82340 to 82345 and 82356 to 83139 that are specially equipped with removable 'Sectional Roofs' and differ in A.A.R.
