A CSX 108-24 Coal train heads south out of LaGrange on this sunny afternoon. Any help on the symbol would be appreciated.

JAMES HUBBARD General On the east side of LaGrange long brfore LaFayette pkwy. Greenville st. was known as Greenville rd. A.K.A Ga. 109.There is a bridge on Greenville st. heading west right after Barnard ave. that's where the old A.B.C.-A.C.L.-S.C.L. tressell was that passed over the A. & W. P. line. My grandparents had a place on hill street near where Whiting street joins hill ,and the trains would roar down that cut between hill & railroad streets back in the 60' & early 70"s .It was neat to look east & see them head under the young's mill rd. bridge-overpass heading for birmingham for that was the mainline from 1906-1978 for 3-difrrerent owners A.B.C.-A.C.L.& S.C.L. It looped around under beeman street & ran parrell with little Morgan st. which was a dock street back then then curving back towards vernon at calumet about where Lafayette parkway begins today after a short parallell with the A. &W.P.Interesting enough my grandparents were approached by some Seaboard system officials in the mid 70's about 4/14/2009 4:41:29 PM
JAMES HUBBARD General selling their property because the a.&w. p. line was going to join the s.c.l. .I think they were trying to work a deal with the city (eg.) in return for the property they give Lagrange for the then proposed laFayette pkwy. project they get to condemn & widen the exsisting Seaboard Mainline . Well they never heard back from the Seaboard folks so thats how the railroads merged on the east side of Lagrange.I would love to see some old pictures of the old tressell next to Dunson mill if anyone from the mill village has any . 4/14/2009 4:50:04 PM
JAMES HUBBARD General Also,at the hill st. & whiting st. intersection ( locals call 3- points ) 6- years before the Seaboard system abandoned the main-line in favor of the A & W. P. line through downtown LaGrange federal & local governments spent 15 - million 1975 dollars building a new 5-lane automobile overpass on Youngs Mill rd. & hill st. intersection ( 3-points by locals). I am currently trying to find some documentation about the orignal plan to scrap the A. & w. p. instead because according to what the SEaboard folks told my Granparents the old A. B. C.- A. C L.- S. C. L. mainline was their first choice in the mid- "70's. I can't imagine how many houses they had to buy outright for the LaFayette pkwy. project which all was done simultaniously with the re- routing the Seaboard mainline away from the Dunson tressell & 3-point bridge waste of good tax- payer money when they could have just filled the cut in with dirt . 4/15/2009 3:21:21 PM
