Reno's ex SP Amtrak station on this beautiful morning in a view well represented here in the RRPA. The station has an interesting and informative display of artifacts and background on the track relocation project, started in 2003 and completed in 2006. The main lobby is now at basement level of course. [And NO slot machines on site, either!!] As can be seen in the background, several top quality hotels/casinos are within walking distance from the station. The building just behind the station partly overshadowing the roofline is the National Bowling Leauge Headquarters. As a fellow RRPA contributor mentions, many surprisingly cheap hotels deals can be had and for us railfans, a number of these hotels have rooms with good views of the transcon mainline. There is also a great variety of dining often relatively cheap, and as well a very good public transportation system if You choose not to rent a car.
