The Lewiston Fair Grounds Wreck C1902. It looks like double headder with MEC 28 & 30 hit or were hit by a passenger train coming in the other direction. I date this photo to the summer of 1902 and the scrap date listed in RR History for #30 in Sept. 1902. Both locomotives came from the Portland works and began service on the European and North American RR. #28 was E&NA #16, became MEC #82 and renumbered to #28 in 1900. Built in 1880, rebuilt in 1893 and scrapped in April of 1905. #30 was E&NA #9 which became MEC #78 and renumbered in 1900 to #30. /DL |
