Peter Spuhler, the owner of Stadler Rail. Stadler is not only celebrating the roll-out of the EC250, but also the company’s 75th anniversary. In 1942, in the midst of World War II, Ernst Stadler founded an engineering firm in Zurich that specialised in the development and construction of locomotives. In 1987, Peter Spuhler joined the company and purchased it two years later with a bank loan. At the time, the company only had 18 employees and a turnover of $ 4.5 million. Today it has a turnover of $ 2.1 billion and a workforce of over 7000 based in various locations across Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Belarus, Algeria and the United States.
