Here is a photo that was included in the "Altoona Area Railroad Pictorial History" edited by Linda White and published in 1996 by The Altoona Mirror, page 83. Partial Caption: "Locomotive shifting freight cars on the west end of the yard in the late 1940s." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4090, a B-6SB (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata during October of 1916 and retired in October of 1956 after 40 years of service. Photo taken near the 9th Street Footbridge.
