Here is the first of three original photos by John Bowman, Jr., that were taken of a railfan excursion train at Glen Moore, Pennsylvania, on 29 September 1940. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5713 and #1960. Both are G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler's" built in Juniata. #5713 was built during September of 1924 and retired in March of 1950, while #1960 was built in October of 1923 and retired in October of 1951. (A similar photo by Clarence E. Kemrer appears on page one of "The 50 Best of the PRR: Book Two," edited by Ernest L. Roberts, Jr.) Roy Healey Collection; #6 of 12. |
