Altoona Shops Inspection Trip, Front Cover, 1981         
Here is the front cover associated with a 17-page version of the Pennsylvania Railroad's 13-page booklet entitled "Altoona Shops Inspection Trip ~ Sunday, May 16, 1937." It appeared on the September 1981 issue of "The Keystone" magazine. Photo Caption: "Three great PRR 'fans' pose with the 1223 at the Altoona Open House on May 16, 1937: left, E. Howard Askew; center, Joe Lovell; right, Charles Chaney." PRR engine #1223 is a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata as a D-16B during 1905, later rebuilt as a D-16SB, sold to the Strasburg Rail Road in October of 1960, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.
