| This was 199's engineer's response to the dispatcher's request, on 199's way out of Portage, to try and make Mile Creek Siding (bypassing Lewiston and Kilbourn) ahead of Amtrak 7, the westbound Empire Builder which would be reaching its Portage stop in a few minutes. 199 had been running just ahead of the deadheading OCS train all afternoon, that would be held at Three Light in Portage for 7 to get by. |
