| ATSF 3900 may be on its first trip east of Cajon Pass since being released from San Bernardino shops on 5 June 1974. The original plan called for using prime movers from soon to be retired F9s to rebuild over 30 of the RSD-15s into yard locomotives. Sadly only three were rebuild and later mated with slugs for use in the new Barstow yard. All of the remaining units scheduled for the program went to scrap. |
