CR GG1 #4894
After almost 40 years of service, this GG1 was retired from active duty in February of 1980 and shoved into the scrap line at Enola, PA. Built by PRR Altoona shops and GE in April of 1940, the loco served the Pennsylvania RR, Penn Central and finally Conrail before dismissal. Conrail conductor Ken Taylor documented in status in this slide two years after its retirement.
