Canadian National train M-319 was heading north on the former Illinois Central at Hammond, Louisiana. The train originated at Geismar, Louisiana – along the Mississippi River 25 miles south of Baton Rouge – and was bound for the connection with the Norfolk Southern at Tolono Illinois. It had SD40-2’s 6114 and 6118, SD40R 6058 and SD70 1001 with 146 cars of mixed freight. |
