Louisville & Nashville E8A 797 was parked on the Old East Siding at Pascagoula, Mississippi with a special passenger train from New Orleans, along with F7B 1915 and E7A 790. The locomotive had been freshly repainted with Dupont DULUX enamel on 10 September 1962, but it was missing its pilot! The 797 had been built in May 1951 and was the last E-unit built for the L&N. It was retired in May 1972 and traded-in to EMD. |
