Here is the first of six original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Shown here is the western face of the Pennsylvania Railroad's 50-stall East Altoona Roundhouse. At one time, it was billed as "The World's Largest Roundhouse." The tall smokestack in the background marks the location of the Roundhouse Power Plant. Also note the photographer's shadow on the Bridge's wooden railing! |
