Fair quality photo of St Louis-San Francisco 4-6-4 Hudson #1060. Originally built in 1917 by Baldwin as a 4-6-2 Pacific, the SLSF West Springfield shops rebuilt it in 1937 to a more powerful 4-6-4 Hudson. This one even has the wide side valence above the running gear. The entire class 1060 was "dismissed from service" between 10/23/1950 and 1/23/1952 and this loco was scrapped midway in December of 1951. Hudson specs - serial #45358, 74" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine weight of 360,960 lb, tractive effort of 48,919 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo |
