Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1911 as Boston & Maine #1206, renumbered in 1911 to #2421, the loco was purchased by the SJL was purchased in 1930 while B&M was shedding their smaller Consolidations at the time. A note on the back states that the loco is sitting at the Montpelier & Western River shops in Montpelier. It also contains the specs listed here - serial #49001, K-7-c class, 61" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x30" cylinders, engine weight of 170,000 lb, tractive effort of 33,433 lb.
