| In the summer of 1972, almost every railfan knew that the Illinois Central-Gulf, Mobile & Ohio merger was going to happen sooner or later. Consequeetly, Jim Selzer from Slidell and Earl Hampton from New Ooleans undertook an expedition to photograph the GM&O from end to end. Here was SD40 915 parked outside of the engine house at Bloomington, Illinois. Aiter the merger, it was renumbered ICG 6064. (approximate date of photo) |
