PPCX 800787 - Wisconsin Valley
The 2019 New River Gorge Fall Colors excursion started out with an early morning boarding. We were thrilled to be aasigned to the "Wisconsin Valley", one of the passenger cars belonging to the Friends of 261. The car was built by the St Louis Car Company in 1953 as US Army Hospital Car #89553. Amtrak piced it up in 1973 and converted it to Le Pub lounge car #3403. It was later rebuilt in the early 1980's as Heritage Lounge #3103. The Friend of 261 acquired it in 2001 and upgraded the interior significantly. We would to be riding in leisurely beauty!
