PRR 650, L-1S, #1 of 2, c. 1947
Consler. Here is the first of two successive photos featuring Pennsylvania Railroad engine #650, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1916 and retired in October of 1956 after 40 years of faithful service. In this context, it's pulling a six-car local freight and an N-5 cabin car. Note the trainphone apparatus on the tender's deck. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded.
