An unidentified railfan caught the former Florida East Coast 4-6-2 Pacific #148 working the Whippany River tourist line sometime in the mid-1970's. This loco has led a long life starting with its build in April of 1920 by Alco-Richmond for the Florida East Coast as their #148. It was used early in its career onb the FEC's "Overseas Railroad" 128-mile extension from Miami to Key West. Unfortuantely, a 1935 hurricane took out ended the line. The loco was sold to US Sugar in 1952 where it worked carrying rww sugar toi the processing plant. Eventually it was sold to Sam Freeman in 1969 who restored it for tourist service on several lines like the Whippany River seen here. The date is approxiamte.
