Fresh Seaboard System |
Description: |
Early on the Friday morning of 4 February 1983 my phone rang and a friend told me that a unit was sitting in Goulding Yard in fresh Seaboard System paint. It was the first one I shot and may have been the first one in Pensacola. In time 4076 would end up with CSX, Helm and UP. |

When the line was still there |
Description: |
Cheating a bit to put this photo in an L&N album, but it's more about the location than the train. This spot is just south of where the St. Louis Metrolink LRV line departs the old L&N right of way to continue further east. Now all that's left here is a curved ridge that used to support the roadbed running through this same cultivated field. Back in 84, however, you could still catch the afternoon local headed west for E. St. Louis. |
