Title:
Washington-Western 210
Description:
The Washington-Western Railroad was chartered by the Green Brothers Gravel Co. in 1940 to serve its gravel pit at Jenkins, Louisiana. This was along the Gulf Mobile & Ohio's Bogue Chitto Branch in Washington Parish, just south of the Parish Seat at Franklinton. This 0-6-0 was built by Alco-Brooks under serial no. 52259 in November 1922 as Illinois Central 210, and went to the Washington-Western in November 1954. This pit closed in 1966, so the W-W moved a pit at Clifton, about eight miles north of here; but that operation used diesels.
