CEI 4-6-2 #1009 - Chicago & Eastern Illinois
Title:  CEI 4-6-2 #1009 - Chicago & Eastern Illinois
Description:  This beautiful 4-6-2 Pacific built by Baldiwn in December of 1911 sits ready to roll in St Louis, MO. This photo is very similar to one I posted much earlier in the same location but slightly different. When the CE&I dieselized in the late 1940's and early 1950's, the entire class was scrapped. The loco was one of the early ones that was dismantled by the C&EI shops in April of 1948. Specs - K-2 class, Serial #37351, 73" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 26.5x28" cylinders, engine weight of 263,000 lb, tractive effort of 41,211 lb. Although no photographer was listed, the photo is from the Dave Shaw collection.
