PRR Samuel Rea Shop, 1955         
SRS. Here is a photo from the Pennsylvania Railroad Company's 109th Annual Report for the Year Ending 31 December 1955, page 17. Photo Caption: "Interior of Samuel Rea ~ world's largest freight car repair shop ~ now in partial operation." On the left, railroaders are building new hopper cars using rivet-based technology. Several white-hot rivet heaters are visible in the middle of the photo. On the right, a number of well-worn gondolas are in the process of being reconditioned. The first freight car was out-shopped on Wednesday, 3 August 1955.
