WPYR 0-6-0ng "DUCHESS" - White Pass & Yukon Route
Title:  WPYR 0-6-0ng "DUCHESS" - White Pass & Yukon Route
Description:  The cute little 0-6-0 saddle tank switcher labeled "Duchess" on display at Carcross, Yukon Territory, Canada was built by Baldwin in September of 1878 originally as Dunsmuir & Diggle #2 (serial #4424) for the Wellington coal mines in BC, Canada. It was purchased by the WPYR in 1899 and rebuilt to a 3'gauge for the Taku Tram during the first part of the 20th century. The loco was retired in 1919 and now serves as a beloved relic at Carcross, YT, Canada, as a symbol of the gold rush era. This color slide was taken by rail fan Jim Lockart and is now in my rr collection.
